United Summer Camp 2025: When Football Builds Bridges

In June, the United Summer Camp opens its doors again — along with hearts, new perspectives, and life-changing connections. From June 10 to 15, 2025, young footballers from Afghanistan, Germany, and Switzerland will come together in Zurich to train, share experiences, and be part of something truly special.

Right in the middle of the European Championship summer, the Coubertin meets Dunant Foundation sends a powerful message of integration, equality, and hope. These young women, aged 17 to 20, come from all over Europe — many have fled Afghanistan but have never lost their passion for football. On the pitch, they stand side by side with rising stars from VfL Wolfsburg, GC Zurich, and FC Winterthur. What unites them is the belief in a future where sport is more than just a game.

“The camp is much more than training — it’s a space for respect, courage, and genuine togetherness,” says Christoph Burkart of Coubertin meets Dunant. “Here friendships are born, networks form — and sometimes new life paths begin.”

We are proud to welcome special guests again this year: Khalida Popal and the Afghan players from the Girl Power Organization, the VfL Wolfsburg youth team, and local clubs GC Women’s Football and FC Winterthur.

The program includes intense training sessions, shared experiences, a sports talk in Bern on June 12, and the highlight: a charity tournament on June 14 in Zurich.

This special week is made possible thanks to the generous support of our partners: SBW Haus des Lernens, State Secretariat for Migration SEM, Swiss Federal Office of Sport BASPO, City of Zurich, Perspektiven Swiss Life Foundation, ARAS Foundation, and the Catholic Church in Zurich.

We look forward to a week full of energy, empowerment, and genuine encounters!
