Welcome to the Refugee Programme, Rashed!

Rashed’s eyes light up as he sees the red and blue mats at the TCB training center. “If you're ever looking for a Taekwondo coach, feel free to call me anytime!” His open nature and cheerful personality are truly inspiring — and leave us wanting more. We’ll gladly take him up on his offer to lead a training session; who knows, it might be the start of a new Taekwondo fan base at TCB.

 

Rashed’s passion for the Korean martial art of Taekwondo was sparked at a young age in Afghanistan and has never left him. Now living in Switzerland for two and a half years, he trains with Lukas Allemann to move closer to his big goal. This summer, he will begin an apprenticeship as a logistics specialist (EBA) at Schulverlag Plus AG — and is fortunate to have a supportive mentor who gives him the flexibility he needs for his training and competitions.

With Rashed’s acceptance into the Coubertin meets Dunant Foundation’s Refugee Programme, we aim to support him wherever he faces disadvantages as a highly talented refugee, enabling him to develop his athletic potential to the fullest while mastering the challenges of integration in a new country.

 

With this official inclusion, we send a clear message about living the values of the Coubertin meets Dunant Foundation. Respect, responsibility, team spirit, and belief in big dreams are at the heart of what we do. Rashed’s journey will be not only a sporting one but also a personal one—shaped by education, fairness, and the power of togetherness. We are proud to accompany him on this path and look forward to the coming years filled with hard work, shared successes, and inspiring moments.
